In order to achieve a bigger jaw opening the double action lever gearing has to be higher which means this lopper requires more effort from the operator to cut through branches. Unless you are regularly needing to remove large branches 65-85mm then our advice would be to purchase a lopper that suits the size of branches that you’re regularly needing to prune (the Timbersaws Prun Off lopper 26/660 is a good all-rounder with good gearing in the double action lever system) and carry a pruning saw with you to remove the branches over 65mm in diameter (the Japanese Silky saws like the Gomtaro or Zubat are both very good choices).
The bypass double action lever system provides a clean healthy cut with less effort required by the operator.
