CHAINSAW PRUNING GUARD

The “Approved Code of Practice for Safety and Health in Forest Operations” under Section 10 “Establishment and Silviculture” requires that “All top handle saws to have a cutter bar guard fitted”.

The guard is required to meet the dimensions originally laid down by FITEC in the “Silvicultural Pruning Best Practice Guidelines” as per the following diagram. If you’re out there and haven’t got a guard meeting the above specifications then you’re not complying with the Approved Code of Practice.
As we understand it, Levin Sawmakers Ltd is the only company in New Zealand who make this guard to meet the required standard.
